Farm Tours and Events
At the heart of everything we do is a love for agriculture and the homesteading lifestyle. We are passionate about teaching the next generation the skills we have learned over the years: raising cattle, sheep, and poultry, gardening/canning, sourdough bread making, and more.
We will be offering tours of our farm, as well as hands-on classes and other events, throughout the year. If you are interested in scheduling a farm tour or field trip for your organization/school/homeschool group/church, please fill out the contact form or contact us by phone at (903)952-9862.

Our Story
We’re the Eakin family, and we’re excited to share this beautiful land and the dream of homesteading that led us here.
When we first met 7 years ago, Ethan had a small homestead on 5 acres, and I spent weekends on my family’s 40 acre ranch in Texas. We both dreamed of having our own homestead: a place to raise our children surrounded by agriculture, and to share our bounty with friends and neighbors.
After years of trials and through the grace of God, we finally closed on our first 40 acres in Okmulgee. We quickly fell in love with the community of Okmulgee, and we knew that we wanted to create a space in our community for our friends and neighbors to gather and experience the beauty of nature.
God heard our prayers and opened the perfect door. When we had the opportunity to purchase the land next door to our property (formerly called J&B Flower Patch), we jumped at the opportunity. And The Prairie Patch was born!
The name “The Prairie Patch” was inspired by our love of the Little House on the Prairie book series, which we grew up reading and we are now reading to our own children. Hearing all that the Ingalls family overcame has inspired us to press into the dreams that God has given us! We recognize that what we are building right now is a heritage that we will pass on to our children and our community.
Whether you want to escape the city and surround yourself with beautiful flowers, or capture one-of-a-kind family photos, or perhaps you want to dive deeper into sustainable farming and gardening… there is a place for YOU at the patch.
“We start learning the minute we’re born, Laura. And if we’re wise, we don’t stop learning until the Lord calls us home.”

Visit our booking site, linked here, and select the type of session and your day and time. You will book online and pay via Cash App, Venmo, or Paypal to confirm your reservation.
In order to help our guests enjoy their experience and to preserve the peace and solitude of our venue, we only allow two photographers per time slot.

Our property is large and spread across more than 45 acres, so I recommend checking out the property map before you come (you’ll get a map in your welcome email when you book online) and figuring out which spots you want to visit. I am a photographer myself and love helping you scope out the property, so don’t hesitate to reach out for recommendations or a tour before your session (subject to availability). From large open fields to our much loved props such as the farm truck and cross, there is something for everyone out here.
-
We are a working farm, so chances are, yes. Our cows are on a rotational grazing schedule, so they spend 50% of their time on The Prairie Patch property and the other 50% on our property next door and the fenced in pond area. While you are welcome to shoot with the cows in the background (we love seeing your cow photos!), please respect their space as we have lots of mamas with calves. Depending on where you are at on the property, you may also encounter our horses, sheep herd, and chickens.
If you are specifically coming to shoot with the animals, please contact us to schedule an animal encounter session. It’s a small add-on that guarantees you a VIP experience with our cattle or horses.
-
When you arrive to The Prairie Patch entrance, you will veer right and park in the grassy area close to the sign. If you can, we recommend not crossing over the bridge to park as your car may end up in the background of your photos.
On our property next door (veer left instead of right when you enter):
If you are shooting with the greenhouse, you will park off of the driveway adjacent to the white pipe fence.
If you are shooting with the pond and green canoe, you can park in front of the first large white gate (the one closest to the highway entrance). Please do not block the driveway.

Absolutely not! This space is for everyone to enjoy. We have families come out all the time to shoot pictures on their cell phone or digital camera, and we welcome it! Whether or not you are a professional photographer, you will still book and pay through the same process on our website.

Yes, we do! We typically offer at least one fall and one Christmas backdrop, as well as fun pop-ups which in the past have included a vintage VW van, unicorn and baby cow, and patriotic/Americana themed. The best way to stay apprised of mini session backdrops is on our social media, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram and join our photography group on Facebook.
